About us

Laura Allington FCCA - Director

I started my career with a medium sized local firm in 1982. After a number of happy years there, I made the move, as an accounts senior, to a top seven national firm, where I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1995.

After my eldest daughter was born, I decided to move back to my original employers in January 1997, where I stayed until setting up my own practice in 2002.

Since then, I haven’t looked back and my client base has steadily grown, purely through word of mouth, which I believe to be the best form of recommendation. I look after a variety of clients, from IT Consultants and building contractors, to retail businesses.

Valerie Carroll FMAAT - Director

I left school in 1981 and started work for the Inland Revenue. In 1988 I climbed over the fence and worked at a medium sized firm of Chartered Accountants in the tax department as a tax senior.

During 1995 I started with Lloyds Private Banking as a tax senior working on individual tax cases of high net worth clients all over the UK as well as the Channel Islands. This work included tax work for certain clients using other countries tax legislation. I already had a self-employed client base accumulating from 1991 which progressed simply through personal recommendation and I took the step of working totally for myself in 1997 after my second child was born.

In 2001 I decided to undertake some accountancy training and obtain a qualification. I passed the Association of Accounting Technician course in 2002 hence the MAAT status. I became a fellow member in August 2008.
